I've got mail...again.

Like I've said before...for a college student getting mail is a huge deal...and today I got a package in the mail! It was full of all sorts of great papers that I won in a blog giveaway from Junk Drawer! There was everything from an old postage stamp, coloring pages, old wrapping paper, old children's book pages, some black and white pictures, old magazine advertisements, a couple of greeting cards, and lots of other great stuff. I can't wait to put these pages to use...

Pies and Knitting

When I asked Kevin if he wanted cake for his birthday he said "no, I want lemon meringue pie." I've never made pie before, let alone pie with meringue. And I told him that, with all intentions of make a pie anyway. So I made my first attempt at pie yesterday. The crust is a little slumpy and the meringue isn't as fluffy as hoped, but he loved it anyway! We just ate almost half of it.

Besides making pie I spent most of Friday and Saturday decorating the Christmas tree and knitting. So after learning to knit of Thursday and starting a scarf on Friday, I finished it on Saturday. I'm very proud of myself.

I made my scarf using size 15 needles and charcoal colored recycled yarn. The scarf is about 6 1/2 feet long.

Hodgepodge

I want to wish my awesome boyfriend a very happy birthday! He's becoming an old man...ok, he's not really that old, but he's older then me so I can tease him :) Anyway, if you read this Kevin, I hope you have a wonderful day and I love you so much!

Now onto other things. As you may recall I mentioned that I was going to learn to knit...well with the help of my mom (BTW thanks mom for helping me!) and this free handout from Hobby Lobby

I was able to learn to knit in about 15 minutes! Ok...so it may not look like much but it's knitting and I'm still practicing. The only yarn we had around the house was the fluffy, fru fru kind and some recycled yarn from an old sweater. I started with the fluffy yarn and made something that could be considered a bookmark (it's that right size, that's all that matters) and now I'm using the recycled yarn to make a scarf. The problem with that is since it is recycled the patterned on the sweater caused the yarn to go from thin to larger is a consistent pattern that makes my scarf look a little strange. Oh well...it will be fine for a beginner project. Pics to come of the outcome.

I just finished watching Anne of Avonlea. It has such a great ending, I watched it a few times. I'm such a huge Anne fan (opps...that rhymed) that this is the background on my desktop.

*Sigh* I want that to be a picture of my life.

Thanks Giving

Now that it is "officially" Thanksgiving I wanted to write a little note wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I thought it would be fitting to mention some of the things I'm
most thankful for:

God
Family
Friends
Kevin

Music
Books
Etc.

So today I went to Hobby Lobby with my mom! It was so much fun. The town that I go to college in has no craft stores, so when I go home it is such a thrill. Hobby Lobby was having a sale on just about everything. I got some cute ribbon, scrapbook stickers, yarn (I'm going to try to learn to knit), and a lot of jewelry supplies to make a charm bracelet. I'm only going to use treasures I find at home for the charms so it will be more personal. I want mine to be so full of charms and things that you can't even see the bracelet! Here are a couple of pictures that inspired by my charm bracelet making ideas. As soon as mine is finished I'll post pictures.

After going to Hobby Lobby I got to hang out with my two best friends from high school! It's always sooo much fun when we get together. We talk nonstop and laugh like there's no tomorrow! The neat thing is that even though we are so goofy and silly, we still manage to talk about the important and serious things in life. For example- tonight while we were eating we managed to have an entire and in-depth conversation about credit scores, building them, needing one to get a home loan, etc. Not many people expect that kind of conversation for 3 college girls...then we proceded to talk about how we totally have to go to the candy store while we're at the mall...what did you expect? We can only carry on an a normal, adult-like conversation for so long. :)

Life Update...

My life update:

Today is the one and a half year anniversary for me and my boyfriend! It's been the best year and a half of my life. At times it doesn't seem like it's been that long, but other times it seems like it's been forever. :)

I recently won another craft givaway. This one is from Junk Drawer and it is an amazing package of old papers! I can't wait until I get it in the mail and see what awesome things I can create with it.

The musical I was in ended yesterday. Three of the four performances were sold out and the other one was a full house. We got a standing ovation and got to do a curtain call on the final performance and that made the whole thing perfect! The whole experiance was great. I made lots of news friends and had tons of fun.

Only two more days of school before I get to go home for Thanksgiving break! That means I get to hang out with my friends from high school, relax, and hopfully get lots of crafting done. I started a mini scrapbook last night about the musical that will include a program that was singed by all 40 cast members and stage hands.

The only bad thing about Thanksgiving break coming up so soon is that I have homework, tests, and projects to do before hand. In fact I'm putting off writing two papers in order to write this blog...opps.

Since I'm putting off doing other productive things, I might as well share a photo (I hate making posts without pictures). This was taken on Friday when I stepped outside my dorm to go eat dinner. Pretty huh?!?

Well I guess that's all that's new in my life right now. Oh...I'm really wanting to get involved with some sort of swap. So if you know of a good one going on right now please let me know.

In response to the comment from usHHfan: Yes, the Captain Horatio Hornblower postcards are for sell, but I was unsure how to get ahold of you. Please get me an email address so we can be in contact.

Yay for crafts!

I had a fantastic day yesterday! I went to the local thrift store to get some old books to use for my scrapmaking/card making. I ended up finding 2 great books and there was a sell going on so it was only $ .34 for both books.

I headed down Main Street to the college when I found a scrapbooking store I had never seen before. So of course I had to stop and check it out. The had ToNS of paper witht he cutest designs.

After I got back to my dorm I went to work and made a postcard, a card, and then started on a set of postcards using the book illistrations from Captain Horatio Hornblower and I finished them today.

Opening night for the musical I'm in was last night and it went great! It was a really nice ending of an already good day.

New horizons

Until today the theme of this blog was crafting... However I have so many other things to post about then just crafting. So very soon I will be changing my blog name and address. I am still going to write about crafting, but also include other happenings of my life. I'm still searching for a new blog name so suggestions are very appreciated.

Random craft thoughts

Lately I've been wanting to do some scrapbooking, but I left all my supplies at home (stupid stupid stupid). I've also been eyeing a accessory tote kit at Wal-Mart that is FULL of scrapbooking supplies. I was going to wait and ask for it for Christmas but I can't take it anymore. So...today I went and bought it! I'm also looking forward to finding some stamp gift tags in the mail that I won from a very mary design! So tonight I went home and got to crafting. Here's some pics of the tote and my latest project; a mini scrapbook of my trip to Silver Dollar City this summer.

Remember how I made a pincushion a while back?? Well I was planning on making one for my mom for Christmas. Yesterday my mom called me and come to find out she was planning on giving me some pincushions that she made for Christmas. How ironic is that considering we have never mentioned making pincushions to each other until yeaterday?!? Here are some pics of the pincushions she made.
