Last Friday

I got to sleep in on Friday for the first time in a long time!

While I was sleeping a semi track jack-knifed on our hill dumping a load of sod on our land, three electric company trucks came roaring up our drive-way, then rain began to pour down...and I slept through it all. I'm pretty sure an Oklahoma tornado wouldn't have woken me up.

Before I jump into those pictures I want to share some of the progress on our house. Early last week the foundation was poured. It took 7 cement trucks to do it all. (Please forgive the fact that all these photos are straight out of the camera.)

Our builder places a Bible in the foundation of each house where the front doorway will be.

I haven't been back up there since the foundation was laid, but I'll get some more pics soon. The framing is going to start in the morning.

Ok, back to Friday. Anyone remember the load of pipes dumped on our property a couple of weeks ago...well it was like deja vu. A truck trying to go up the hill, doesn't make it, and the load ends up on our yard...yeah. These photos are courtesy of my mom because I was sleeping :)

Then the power company came to put in a new power pole for the new house!

And I'm totally going to sleep in again tomorrow...who knows what could happen while I'm sleeping like a rock...

Slackin'

So I've obviously be slacking when it comes to my blog...I blame it on working about 65 hours a week. But that's all over now; I finished my internship yesterday (I'm kinda sad about that) so now I'm only working about 40 hours a week. That means I will have time to blog...and I swear I will have an update with pictures on the internship, house building, and everything else that's been happening.

Everyone should head over to Mary Ann's blog and enter in her giveaway! Mary Ann is just about the coolest gal ever; she makes all sorts of neat things and always has something fun(ny) to say. She also has another site you should check out where she showcases independent artists. She's having a giveaway over there right now too. So yeah...get off my blog and go to Mary Ann's :)

Oklahomans and their horses

Contrary to popular belief, people in Oklahoma do not ride horses to school.

In fact I had never ridden a horse before...until 2 hours ago! I got to go with my friend Zac** and ride his horse Sassy. It was a lot of fun, even though we basically just walked in circles :) I was a little nervous at first, so I made Zac get on first and ride around for a bit. Then I got on...without falling or looking stupid. Sassy was being funny and kept getting as close to Zac as she could so that I was bumping him with my knee, I was laughing. Sorry, no pictures; I was so excited to be riding a horse that I totally forgot.

**Just to clarify: Zac is a full blown rodeo ridin', belt buckle wearin', country accent, truck drivin' cowboy where as I am a wanna-be, thrift store boot wearin', never ridden a horse, lives barely in the country kind of gal.

Pipes and Birds

My mom called me today while I was on my way home and said that there was a lot of pipes had been spilled our yard and that I would have to park on the road...I was so confused.

She had just got home and saw that a load of oil well pipelines had been spilled on our yard. I got home and saw a work crew as they were just putting the first load of pipes onto a trailer. Come to find out a guy, named Alex something, was driving up the hill with a load of pipes and when he was almost at the top his trailer breaks failed. He ended up sideways across the road and all the pipes slid off onto our land. (He was a real nice guy.)

It's my driveway that the CASE 621D is in.

Later (after the electricity blinked about 8 times-we've been having some crazy wind that I think is causing our power to flicker the past couple of days. Ooooklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plain!) my parents and I were out in the backyard and decided to take a closer look at a birds nest perched on the drain pipe. Mom broke out the binoculars and I tried to take some pics through them (it worked with a telescope in astronomy). I had some problems because of the flash and after putting the camera on a tripod and turning off the flash I still had binocular shake :/ But I got a decent pic and lightened it so you can see the four birds in the nest. They're getting really big and I'm not really sure how they all fit in the nest. (You can click the pic to make it bigger.)

BTW you may of noticed last Friday or you can pretend that you did that I didn't do a Flashback Friday. I'm taking a break for now since I'm working two jobs and will be pretty stinkin' busy. I hope to start it back up in the Fall.

Wow, lets pretend that this note isn't a big jumble of stuff. I'm sleepy and watching Friends. I'm going to bed now because the alarm starts going off tomorrow at 5:55 a.m. :(

House Buildin'

I thought I would share a few pics of the house building progress. There was a little bit of a hold-up, but things are really starting to move now. In less then a week they put in the poles that correspond with specific points on the blueprints, laid the footing, and put up the frame for the foundation (I don't really know the technical terms). So anyway, I haven't been up there today, but here are a couple of pics I took recently.

My First Day

Today was the first day of my internship at KOTV. I started off by attending the morning assignment meeting. Then I spent some time getting familiar with the computer program used for the show layout and doing a little writing. I ended up writing three VO's (voice overs) that were actually used during the noon show. So on my first day there I had 1:26 (1 minute and 26 seconds) of my writing aired! However I didn't get to actually hear it because I was on location during the newscast! I was sent out with one of the photojournalists named Kyle to shoot a segment. I was behind Kyle during the shoot and I really wanted to take a picture to share on here because he looked so cool. He had the massive camera on his shoulder, a set of headphones, a cord tucked in his belt and he just looked so stinkin' cool. It would have made the perfect photo, but I was afraid that even without the flash my camera would interfere with the signal. Oh well, I'll try to get some pics...with permission :)
