My latest item is featured in an etsy treasury! Go check it out :)

Whitney Sews- Episode 4

Every time I write 'Episode *insert number here*' it makes me think of Star Wars :) Anyway, I had a couple of requests from viewers about how to maintain the clothes they already own. So in this week's video I show how to sew on two different types of buttons, sew a hem, and replace an elastic waistband. At the end of the video is an ad for mine and my mom's etsy store...the idea hit me yesterday when I was thinking about ways to promote generation gap. I made a little ad and tagged it on the end of this week's ep. Tell me what you think about it :)

Regular Ol' Martha Stewarts

Yesterday my mom and I saw someone on the food network making marshmallows, so we decided to make some. We made lemon marshmallows with blue swirls...they're really pretty (I took photos, but am too lazy to upload them right now). Then today I made Olive Garden style potato soup, it was delicious. And finally mom and I made laundry soap because we had run out. So we're feeling pretty Suzy Homemaker/Martha Stewart-ish right now :)

Photoshoot

Here are some of the raw photos from the 5/8/09 photoshoot for the East Central University Centennial Look Book and the promotional catalogue. I forgot that I hadn't put any up yet until I was going through the photos for the last post. So here are a few of them. The ones for the actual catalogue will be cropped and a background will be inserted where the green screen is. They wanted photos of people who work behind the scenes so we did some photos with our costumer stuff and they wanted some dramatic theatrical photos. The photographer did the eye make-up for us to make our eyes DRAMATIC!... As always you can click the photos to enlarge.

Interview with the ECU Costumers

Sorry if the endless supply of videos is getting annoying...I'm having fun :)

This is another Video Production II project. It is Naomi's interview piece. She decided for her interview she wanted to showcase the ECU costumers...me and Angela! She did a great job so I wanted to share it...I thought I had posted this about a month ago, but I guess I forgot to. Anyway here it is...

This week's Threadbanger episode was a really great one about fashion design. It's nice to see you the pros do it!

Happy Birth/Anni/Mothers/Wedding Day

Crazy title huh??

Today is my dad's birthday. Yesterday was mine and Jordan's three month anniversary. Sunday was Mother's day and tomorrow is my sister's wedding shower. I was going to find pics of everyone to include in this post...but then remembered that I have a video of everyone! It was taken last Saturday at the restaurant right after my graduation, so yea everyone gets included :)

Episode 2!

Last week I posted my final Video Production II project which was the Whitney Sews video...well, I've decided to make it a weekly show. I originally just planned on it being the one "episode" but tonight I got bored and filmed, edited, and uploaded another episode.

This episode is a bit of a practice run because I filmed it on a little flip camera and edited in windows movie maker, instead of using a bunch of fancy equipment like I had at school. Anyway, it's not perfect but tell me what you think and if you have any sewing questions or ideas for future episodes please leave me a comment.

New Products/New Type of Photos

I love being at home and our new house...but it has a down side. There is nowhere in this house where I can get good lighting for a photo. So until I get a light kit I have to take photos outside (I haven't tried the garage yet...so we'll see about that). Anyway, I have some new items to put up on etsy so I did a test run yesterday and I love the results! I used a rustic wooden bench on the porch as the background and it is so my style. Here are some of yesterday's photos...aren't the colors beautiful?!?

These sets are avaliable in my store under the supplies section.

Quite a Weekend

I'll start with yesterday...stayed up late writing my last paper ever. Then got up Friday morning for a photo shoot. Angela and I are going to appear in the East Central University Centennial Look Book and the promotional catalogue for next year. We took photos in our "backstage" costumer look and then in costumes. Then we took care of turning in work keys, selling back books, leaving a forwarding address, etc. Then after helping friends move out of the dorms Jordan and I went on a date and we were reminded again of how indecisive we can be :) We ended up heading to McDonald's for a late night snack which involved raincoats and forging a river in the parking lot. Just as I was saying "a number 1 with a coke" the power on half the town went out. So we thought we'll just go to Taco Bell, it's on the other half of town....but no, Taco Bell was the only place on the street without power. We finally got some subs at the gas station and headed back to school...I know this story is probably lame, but just stick with it :) I discovered last night how creepy the school is without power...there were safety lights on and it looked like every horror film I've never wanted to see. We ended up eating by the light of the laptops and talked about how only Jordan and I can have a last night of hanging out that goes like this. The power came back on about an hour and a half later. So I got to bed about 2 a.m.

I had to be up and in my cap and gown at 7:45 this morning to receive my Alpha Chi honor cords. Walked to pomp and circumstance at 10, heard Jim Lehrer speak and was graduated with high honors by 11:15. And only cried like four times over the past two days...

Video Production II Final Video

I spent almost all day Saturday filming and sewing for this project and all day today editing it. I learn how hard it is to film myself when the tripod is crappy. I ended up propping the camera lens on my personal tripod so that I could angle the camera different directions. You can tell by the end of the film that I was tired of changing the camera angle. So anyway, here it is 6 minutes cut down from the 35 minutes of footage and the 11 spent on this project...oh, the music is from The Lawrence Welk show that aired 2 weeks ago :)

Only 3 Days...

...one video project, one paper, one character make-up application, two tests, and packing up everything in my dorm stands in the way of graduation. Oh and a date with Jordan, but I'm cool with that :)

Dance Project

This choreography was done as a project for Jazz I. The choreographers/dancers are Randi, Brooke, and myself (I'm the one in the khaki shorts). We are all beginning dancers with only two or three semesters of dance. We had to incorporate movements into the piece that are in line with the Fosse jazz techniques. The isolation of the hands and feet at the very beginning and the movement at the end are a couple of them we included. My teacher really liked what we did and she thinks we did really well for our limited dance experience. All the hats we used were made by me :)

Graduation...

...one week from today.
