Giveaway-a-palooza

This week is the bloggy giveaway carnival! Already there are 884 giveaways listed and number 884 is my dad! He decided to join in this year and is giving away 2 tickets for a show in Branson called Celebrate America. Everyone should get busy signing up for my dad's giveaway and for the 800+ other ones.

*I will admit, the last time there was a bloggy giveaway carnival I stayed up ReaLLY late for a couple nights just entering in the giveaways...it was fun :)

Progress

Our new house now has shingles and windows! Pictures coming soon...

Okay, so it's been a week...here's the photos from last week and I'll get this week's up once I've uploaded them from my camera.

One of the workers stepped through the porch roof. He's okay though.

Cat Lady

Mary Ann said that having 4 or more cats makes you the cat lady...so I guess I'm one. My family started out with Tigger. She is a crazy temperamental cat with only a half tail. She hates cats with tails and takes offense when you mention the fact that she doesn't really have a tail. Tigger hated me when I was in photography class and she's starting to not like me because of my new camera :)

The second cat we came to own is Stanley. He's beautiful, but he doesn't have the ability to meow. He's been hanging around for a few years and has been pretty skiddish most of the time, but once in a while I can bribe him with food and he lets me pet him. Today he was my best bud because I was petting him. Stanley's a little camera shy at first.

Then came Stubby. He has a tail that looks like a bunny's. I wanted to call him Stumpy, but mom said no it was Stubby.

Our last cat is Socks. He's got that fur where it looks like he's wearing white socks. I can't get pictures of Socks and Stubby...haven't even been able to pet them, but we still claim them. All four cats enjoy sitting in random places...on the car, in a box, on a tables, and the latest is in the top drawer of a topless vanity.

Watch out for the tiger Tigger! (She's just yawning.)

My "Urban Cowboy"

As I mentioned in my last post I've been inspired a lot lately to do some crafting. I found a set of shirts on flickr called "Urban Cowboy" and they were totally cool. I got to thinking about a western shirt I had thrown in the giveaway box and decided to use it as a test shirt because I thought it was too little.

So I added some red-ish flower fabric to the shirt and made my version of the "Urban Cowboy." I liked it so much that I broke the dress code by wearing it to work :) (It ended up not being too small.) I only had one incident with my sewing where I had to do some unstitching...

Anyway, after I finished I showed mom how to use my new camera a little and we had some fun!

...and just for fun, my cat in mid-yawn... :)

Current Inspirations

<--The last thing I made was a skirt inspired by this one. <--I'm working on a skirt like this now.

<--I have a white jacket my mom got for me at a garage sale that I want to use for this.
<--This one and the next one are called "Urban Cowboy." I have a shirt that's too small for me that I'm planning on using to try this look out. If it looks good then I'll do it on a shirt that actually fits :)

<-I already have the belt buckle I want to use for this one...and mine will not be that type of material.

<--It's just too cute!

New Pictures

From my new camera!

For the last two years I've been drooling over this camera and last week I finally broke down and bought it...and the vertical grip, and a two gig memory card, and the wireless remote! I waited patiently while everything came in the mail. Yesterday I put my new baby camera to good use.

I took these pictures and we were having a really good day; then the rain came and tonight's show was canceled.

Oh yeah!

While I was doing my internship at The News on 6 I saw Ben Sumner. Ben is the host of Up Late, the only local late night talk show. Then tonight after work I was watching Up Late and they were giving away two tickets to Frontier City and I totally won!

What's funny is that I was the 9th and 12th caller (12th caller was the winner.)

A little of everything

I spent the last a couple of days having withdraws...from facebook! One of our Oklahoma storms knocked out our internet on Tuesday night. I had to *gasp* go to the library to check my email and facebook on my way to work. Fifteen minutes of internet time a day just doesn't cut it. *sobs a little*

Anyway, now that I'm back online...I have a couple of random things to share. The first is a giveaway that is going on until midnight tonight. So please jump over to Modish and enter a time or two or three.

Another fun thing is a link I found over on Yapping Cat's blog that tells ones blog readability level. I am proud here to announce that mine is...

Movie Reviewsblog readability test

We can't all be scholars can we?? You can find out your blog readability level here.

I should have some more pics of the house building this weekend. There are stairs now!

P.S. I miss interning :(
