Saturday I was looking around on the internet and came across hand weaving. I don't even remember how I got to it, but I ended up finding a lot of great information. I first wanted to try weaving on a circular loom, and made one from a CD that didn't record right. But I could quite figure everything out and I couldn't find just the right info online. So I resorted to regular hand weaving.
I first made a loom from a small cardboard flat, I think cans of green beans came in it. I simply cut slits down two sides every 1/2". Then I strung it with some yarn my mom recycled from a sweater a couple of years ago. I wove it with that same yarn along with some specialty yarn that is furry in spots. Because both yarns are textured (and because it's my first time) the finished product didn't end up square, but I really like the look of it. The pictures don't do it any justice.

Then Sunday I rigged up a different loom using a picture frame, two knitting needles, and some cording. I got the idea from a video on youtube and didn't have dowel rods, that's why the knitting needles came into play. Here's what the loom looks like with part of a project on it.
I ended up making a bracelet. I used small crochet thread to string it, recycled yarn, ribbons, and some lace I cut off of a tragic 80s prom dress.

That's amazing how you can follow instructions off the internet! I tried to learn how to pearl in knitting off the internet and boy was I lost! That bracelet is cute!
That's neat. I'm trying to learn to knit at present.
