New Vest(s)

My mom and I went on a shopping adventure last Saturday. At Penny's I found a really cute shirt that a cute fitted tee with an attached vest that was only a front. I liked the look, but wasn't willing to pay the price. So I decided to just make one...since I am crafting like that :) I spent the evening making a pattern from a vest I have that is shown in this post (I changed the length though from full to cropped) and trying to decide on a fabric to use. Later I was digging through my closet and found this awesome purple plaid my mom gave me. Later I found an old jean skirt of mine that I thought would look cool as a vest...then it hit me! A reversible vest! So I ended up making a pattern for the back of the vest. When I got back to school Sunday I set to work and started my vest...

I had never made anything reversible before...so it was a little bit of a nightmare. I found a website with a how-to and ended up with a vest that could not be turned right side out. Just goes to show that not everything on the internet is true and accurate. After about three hours of frustration and asking a lot of people for help I finally came across another website. This one saved my vest and my mind. I love how my vest turned out and I wore it to my classes yesterday! I ended up using some of the buttons that I bought last week for $.10 a card. I didn't want to take the buttons off the cards, but it's the best buttons I have that there are enough of. I'm thinking about making a matching newsboy hat that is reversible as well...if that's possible... I would probably end up looking a little 90's, but I don't really care. I've decided that it doesn't matter what people think about me or my style as long as I like it and I'm true to myself...so bring on the 90s! :)

**Don't forget to enter the giveaway...only a few days left!**

(Please forgive the fact that I have the same pose for 4 of the 5 pictures.)

It turned out really cute. I'm glad you got the turning it right side out figured out.

This is so cute! I love denim vests, but the purple rocks as well. :)
