Just Remembered...

Yesterday there was an older cowboy walking into Wal-Mart as I was walking out and he totally tipped his cowboy hat and said "evenin' ma'am" and as he walked away I could hear his spurs clicking. *giggles* (There's just something about spurs) I decided there are gentlemen left in the world...they just come in the form of older cowboys and pre-med students ;)

Anyway, really going to do my homework now...after I check my facebook.

Last Week

Oklahoma has the craziest weather! Last Monday the temperature dropped and ice began to fall. It fell for two days straight. Then Thursday was almost 70 degrees.

School was canceled Tuesday and Wednesday so because of my awesome schedule I only had to go to 2 classes all week! During those days off my friends and I went sledding down every hill on campus on cafeteria trays (we didn't steal them...the cafo ladies gave them to us because the cafo went "green" and won't let us have trays anymore so they can save water by not having to wash them). Anyway, there is no better way to slide then on a cafo tray :) I somehow always ended up turning around backward on every slide. We ended up in the ditch a lot...so we got smart and went to a hill that didn't have ditches on both sides...then the snowplow went down it and we found another even better hill.

Us girls ended up having a facial night using all natural ingredients like apples, honey, and cucumbers (which we did swipe from the cafo). Then I came home for the weekend and there were 4 swap packages and a book I ordered waiting for me to open! I felt like a kid in a candy store opening up everything. I probably should have taken some photos, but I was too excited to remember. All in all it was a pretty good week, except for the cold...but I can handle the cold if it means canceling school every so often :)

Free at last

Anyway, I am free from school until January 8th! I'm pretty jazzed about having almost an entire month off. Then when I go back it will be my last semester...ever!

On my way home I didn't see the miniature horse I usually see standing outside of its fence...but I did see something else fun. I was driving along and I saw a big white thing squeezing underneath the guard rail to get on the road. My first thought was "man that is an ugly dog." I then realized that it was a goat. So I thought that some one's goat had gotten out. I looked down the little hill and saw at least 10 more goats. It was really funny to see all these goats just hanging out by the side of the road and squeezing under the guard rail when they were only about 2 feet from the end of it...maybe it was a "you had to be there" situations. I was going to take a picture but didn't want to get ran over.

My friend totally got me a Hanson tote bag for Christmas! It's so cool :)

I sold two hats on Tuesday to one of my teachers. She bought them for her nieces for Christmas presents.

Ok...so I don't want to have another post without photos. So here is a picture I took before the craft show of some of my zipper bags.

Quicky Update

Ok...so still writing papers, sewing like a madman for the craft fair this weekend, went thrifting yesterday and got 3 sweaters, and a cute little jar for $3.28 (no photos at this time and one sweater has already been turned into a hat/glove set), the second highest up admin on campus calls me "hat lady" because she found out yesterday that I make my own hats (she obviously does not read the university newspaper) but she thinks I'm cool, so it's ok, I'm really jazzed about my oral interp final...we're doing about an hour's worth of holiday pieces readers theatre style, I'm still addicted to Dr. Quinn...but the rest of the videos were removed :( so now I've seen all of the ones on youTube, I'm hoping to start doing Flashback Fridays again during the break, and I think I'm going to be able to come home three days early for Christmas Break! My teacher is acting like the final that is scheduled for next Friday will be something easy and can be turned in sooner.

Last weekend when I was home we painted, made peanut brittle, and started decorating the tree and the house. I have photos of all of that...just not up yet. I do have a few, so I will give you a little preview.

Here we were testing the lights on the wreath and Stanley happened to walk up then. He was quite intrigued by the lights.














Mom's newly repainted shelf thingy (I don't remember what it's called). The paint was a mistint and cost only $1 for a whole gallon and it is coca-cola green so mom loves it! We are putting coke things on it and Santas and snowmen for the holidays. The red apron hanging on the side is one my mom bought from Mary Ann; it looks really cute there :)

While I was watching TV last Saturday I saw something out of the corner of my eye and thought it was one of the cats. I turned around and saw this. The dumb thing sat there forever...long enough for me to go get my camera and take three or four photos. Then we ran it off. I had never realized before just how ugly possums are, especially their tails.

Everyday I walk over the catwalk to get to class and I see this tree. It's really pretty right now with the leaves changing color. I've been wanting to get some pics of it, but kept forgetting, so yesterday I got up there and took this photo and some others in the 30 mph winds.

Hanson Concert!

Last Wednesday I found out that Hanson was going to be in town for a free concert to celebrate Quiktrip's 50th Anniversary. My dad was cool enough to pick me up some tickets. So tonight (ok...last night now that it's after midnight) was the concert. I had plans to go with some friends, but things happen and my parents ended up taking me and dropping me off. I got there about an hour and a half early and walked around some and watched a little bit of Leon Russell. Then low and behold I see someone I know. It was a guy I've known since like 7th grade and because of him I was allowed inside the fenced off area and got to stand RIGHT NEXT to the stage! No joke...at one point I leaned against it. So the concert went from being cool to totally stinkin' awesome! Since I was so close I was able to get some really great pictures. I was able to met, take a picture with, and get an autograph from all of them except Issac...my favorite :( Oh well...it was still like the coolest thing ever. After the concert was a bunch of fireworks and my parents came to pick me up. I pretty much have the coolest parents ever!

I'm trying to get some videos uploaded to YouTube right now, but it could take awhile.

Oklahomans and their horses

Contrary to popular belief, people in Oklahoma do not ride horses to school.

In fact I had never ridden a horse before...until 2 hours ago! I got to go with my friend Zac** and ride his horse Sassy. It was a lot of fun, even though we basically just walked in circles :) I was a little nervous at first, so I made Zac get on first and ride around for a bit. Then I got on...without falling or looking stupid. Sassy was being funny and kept getting as close to Zac as she could so that I was bumping him with my knee, I was laughing. Sorry, no pictures; I was so excited to be riding a horse that I totally forgot.


**Just to clarify: Zac is a full blown rodeo ridin', belt buckle wearin', country accent, truck drivin' cowboy where as I am a wanna-be, thrift store boot wearin', never ridden a horse, lives barely in the country kind of gal.

Only in Oklahoma

I can't remember if I've mentioned before, but I'm taking a two week intersession class over JFK and the assassination. One week of the class is over and today I made the trek back home for the weekend.

I stopped at the usual place and noticed a chicken hanging out by a SUV. I didn't think much of it except that I wanted to take a picture to show my mom. So I did then went inside. When I came back the folks who owned the SUV were just standing there not knowing what to do. One of the ladies told me she thought the chicken was hurt so I took a step closer to check it out. It just stood up and sauntered off. The family couldn't believe that a chicken was just hanging out at a gas station and even followed it to the other side of the car to watch it some more. They were pretty easily amused...I wouldn't expect so much interest in a chicken from Arkansasans (I can talk about Arkansas since that's where all my folks came from :)
