Costuming!

Today was my first day as costumer for the University theatre department! The way everything worked out is that I am the head costumer and my friend Angela is the assistant costumer. It's going to be so much fun! Today while we were going through and trying to do some organizing and just get a general feel for what was there we kept getting distracted by every exiting and cool thing. To us it was like Christmas, birthday, and 20 good garage sales all mixed into one :) We kept saying "we're having way to much fun. I can't believe we're getting paid for this!"

It's kind of hard to explain what the costume shop is like, so I took some pictures...it's really hard to take pictures in a very crowded storage area. There is two separate rooms, one where the sewing and everything takes place which also houses the notions, fabric, small accessories, the extra machines for costuming class, and so much more. The second room has 4 giant racks of clothes, an enormous amount of hats and shoes, tons of boxes of various clothing and accessories, and even more clothes hanging from the ceiling. There is another gigantic room of the costume shop that is stuffed to the brim with props...but I don't really have much to do with that. Anyway, here's the best pics I could get.

Summer Wrap-up

In case you haven't noticed I'm back at school now. This means no more working 6 nights a week. It also means I have more time to sew and watch movies. It's nice to have the time to relax, but I miss work and my friends.

Every night after I finished up in the ticket office I got to see some portion of the musical(s)...but there was always parts that I never got to see, like the pre-show (until I found some of it on youTube yesterday!). One night when Sarah came to watch the show she filmed the song Kansas City for me because I never got to see it! Thank you Sarah, I miss you!



One of my favorite parts of Oklahoma is the "Oklahoma Hello." So on the last night I broke out my camera and filmed it. Warning: my camera quality is crummy!

Happy (Belated) Independence Day!

This is what it looks like when the cast and crew at a western musical amphitheatre celebrate the 4th of July...

My new Buddy

I work in a ticket office for an outdoor amphitheatre where a musical is performed 6 nights a week. Sometimes it's lame, usually it's fun...and sometimes it's real fun. Lately it's been real fun because the sound guy has been bringing his puppy to work! The little guy is the runt of the litter and his mom stopped feeding him. He is like 9 weeks old, but is less then half the size of the rest of the pups. However, in the last couple of weeks since Jon took over the little guy has started gaining weight and is getting feisty, instead of sleeping all the time like he was last week.

Anyway, the little guy's name is Buddy. (The name won out over Curly and Trucker.) We ticket office gals think of him as our little mascot...we keep him in the ticket office sometimes and I even gave him a little bandanna to wear...because the rest of us have to wear them with our uniform. Buddy is just too cute, so we had to take pictures of him last week :)

Slackin'

So I've obviously be slacking when it comes to my blog...I blame it on working about 65 hours a week. But that's all over now; I finished my internship yesterday (I'm kinda sad about that) so now I'm only working about 40 hours a week. That means I will have time to blog...and I swear I will have an update with pictures on the internship, house building, and everything else that's been happening.

Busy

I've been so stinkin' busy with interning and working. So I'm kinda neglecting the blog a little...sorry blog :( I'll try to do an update or something this weekend. I have a surprise coming this weekend...

My First Day

Today was the first day of my internship at KOTV. I started off by attending the morning assignment meeting. Then I spent some time getting familiar with the computer program used for the show layout and doing a little writing. I ended up writing three VO's (voice overs) that were actually used during the noon show. So on my first day there I had 1:26 (1 minute and 26 seconds) of my writing aired! However I didn't get to actually hear it because I was on location during the newscast! I was sent out with one of the photojournalists named Kyle to shoot a segment. I was behind Kyle during the shoot and I really wanted to take a picture to share on here because he looked so cool. He had the massive camera on his shoulder, a set of headphones, a cord tucked in his belt and he just looked so stinkin' cool. It would have made the perfect photo, but I was afraid that even without the flash my camera would interfere with the signal. Oh well, I'll try to get some pics...with permission :)
